|Cheri's Birthday Frosting|
1/4 cup Crisco shortening
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup powdered fructose or 3/4 cup granular fructose
1 tablespoon milk
Food coloring of choice
To make powdered fructose, use a KitchenAid® All Metal Grain Mill KitchenAid® attached to your mixer. Set the grain to desired consistancy. You can also use granular fructose but you need to make this frosting a day ahead and then mix it again before using in order to allow the fructose to dissolve, this will prevent a grainy texture.
Cream all incredients together and and beat until light and fluffy. If mixture is too thick for spreading, add a few additional drops of milk. You can make decorations with pastry tips and a pastry bag, freezing designes until needed. They will hold their shape for an hour or so. Defrost just before using. This will yield about 1/2 cup of frosting.
